Mandurah residents are invited to reflect, respect and celebrate our city’s diverse history and culture at this year’s Australia Day events on 25-26 January at the Eastern Foreshore.

The day will feature activities for the whole family to enjoy, as well as the City of Mandurah’s Citizen of the Year awards presentation and annual Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.

On Saturday, 25 January there will be a traditional Smoking Ceremony led by local Aboriginal custodian Trevor Stack. This special ceremony promotes healing and cleansing and is a mark of respect to the land, and Elders past, present and future.

On Sunday, 26 January, the day will begin at 8.30am with a variety of cultural experiences including a Community Canvas interactive art project, cultural face-painting and sand art demonstrations.

The official Australia Day ceremony will kick off with a Welcome to Country at 8.30am, followed by the Citizen of the Year awards presentations.

Citizen of the Year awards recognise and honour those who go above and beyond in their service to our community. Be they volunteers, committee members, carers or passionate individuals, the 2024 award nominees have made outstanding contributions to the Mandurah community.

This year’s awards will see winners announced across four categories, including Community Citizen of the Year, Senior Community Citizen of the Year (65 years and over), Young Community Citizen of the Year (16 – 30 years), and Active Citizenship Award (for a group or event).

We will also welcome 103 new Australian citizens from 17 different countries of origin at the traditional Australia Day citizenship ceremony.

The City of Mandurah’s 2025 Australia Day celebrations are supported by the Australian government through the National Australia Day Council.
